Situation: A strong visual brand that wanted an audio identity.

BibleProject was a rapidly growing brand creating content for a worldwide audience. They had a strong visual brand identity, a beautiful logo designed by Mackie Saturday and a youtube channel with millions of followers. Our task was to bring the sonic identity up to par with their visual identity.

Problem:  No real sonic signature.

At the start, BibleProject had several sample sonic logos (stingers) that were used sporadically but had no real cohesive execution or vision of what their sonic signature should sound like and how it should relate to the visual brand logo

Solution: Sounds and Syllables

First, we focused on building a sonic palette that would be appropriate for the brand. We created a range of sounds and instruments the audience should associate with BibleProject. Next we focused on the unique mark. How should the sonic signature sing in a person’s head? We decided to match up the four syllables of “Bi-ble Pro-ject” with a four note motif played in various cadences.

Results

Our work paid off. Audience members can now sonically identify BibleProject just by hearing the notes and the work has served as a launching pad for composers and musicians that BibleProject works with to create their own versions of the logo in custom songs.

This video features the premier of the new BibleProject sonic logo.
